The soya sticks are made with soya beans and soya chunks on the other hand soya chaap curry is made with spices, vegetables, herbs, cream, and soya sticks. Ingredients
For Soya Chaap Sticks
- 1/2 cup soya bean
- 1/2 cup soya chunks
- 1 cup refined flour
- salt to taste
- water to boil
For Soya Chaap Curry
- 2 tbsp oil
- 5 soya chaap sticks
- 1 tsp cumin seeds
- 1 bay leaf
- 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
- 1 medium onion, finely chopped
- 1 tsp ginger garlic paste
- 1/2 tsp coriander powder
- 1 1/2 cups tomato pulp
- 1 tsp Kashmiri red chilli powder
- 1/4 tsp cumin powder
- salt to taste
- 1 cup water
- 1/4 cup fresh cream
- 1/4 tsp garam masala
- 2 tbsp coriander leaves
- 1/2 tsp Kasuri methi
Method
For Soya Chaap Sticks
- In a bowl, add soya bean and water, soak for 6 hours.
- Then in a saucepan, add water and soya chunks. Boil for 5 minutes.
- Remove the soya chunks and drain all excess water.
- In a mixer grinder jar, add boiled soya chunks, soaked soya beans, and grind it into a smooth paste.
- After that, in a large missing bowl, add prepared paste, refined flour, salt. Mix well and knead a soft dough.
- Take a small portion of dough and dust some refined flour over it.
- Roll it out into a thin roti with a rolling pin.
- Cut strips and take an ice cream stick and roll a single strip around the ice cream stick.
- Repeat the process with the remaining dough.
- Now, add water in a saucepan and add the soya sticks. Boil for 15 minutes.
- After 15 minutes, remove it from water and place it into a cold water bowl. Soak for 5 minutes.
- The soya sticks are ready. Keep it aside for further use.
For Soya Chaap Curry
- In a pan add oil and soya chaap sticks. Roast them on both sides and keep them aside for further use.
- Take the same pan, add cumin seeds and bay leaf saute until aromatic.
- After that, add chopped onions, ginger-garlic paste, and saute well.
- Now add tomato pulp and stir continuously until it starts releasing oil.
- Then add turmeric powder, chili powder, coriander powder, cumin powder, and salt. Mix well.
- Furthermore, add water and cream. Turn the flame low and stir continuously.
- Then add prepared soya bean chaap sticks into the curry. Cover and simmer for 15 minutes.
- After 15 minutes, add garam masala, crushed Kasuri methi, and coriander leaves. Mix well.
- Turn off the flame and serve.
