Eating has become an all-time mood, and since we all are stuck at work from home, we need some snack by our side. And not to forget we are all trying to stay healthy too, so we bring you the recipe for cornflakes chivda, which is a perfect snack and healthy too.

Chivda is a deep-fried savoury mixture that consists of many ingredients like dry fruits as well as spices of your choice; you might add sev or peanuts, what so ever suits you.

This recipe is for a sweet and savoury diet chivda; you can change the spices as per your liking. When making chivda with cornflakes, always use a fine sieve. Cornflakes chivda also can be served plain as a snack or with some chai or coffee.

  • 2 cups corn flakes
  • Salt to taste
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • Seasoning mix
  • Salt to taste
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • Red chilli powder – 1 tsp
  • ½ tsp dried mango powder

For Tempering 

  • Oil – 2 tbsp
  • 2 green chilli, cut into pieces
  • Dry red chilli, cut into pieces – 2
  • 3-4 sprigs Curry leaves
  • ⅓ cup cashew nuts
  • peanuts – ⅓ cup
  • ⅓ cup coconut flakes
  • raisins – ⅓ cup
  • ⅓ cup dried cranberries (optional)

 Final Seasoning

  • ½ tsp dried mango powder
  • ½ tbsp Sugar
  • ¼ tsp black pepper crushed


    1. Take a kadhai and dry toast the corn flakes for a minute or two.
    2. Now, add salt and Sugar, let it melt and coat the corn flakes.
    3. Now in another bowl, add salt, sugar, red chilli powder, dried mango powder and mix it evenly.
    4. Add the mixture to the roasted corn flakes and keep on tossing it until well coated.
    5. Take it off in a bowl and keep it aside.
    6. Next, in the same Kadai, add oil, heat it and add green chilli, dried red chilli, curry leaves, saute it well and add cashew nuts, peanuts, coconut flakes, raisins, dried cranberries (if using) and saute for a few minutes.
    7. Now add the corn flakes mixture in it and mix well.
    8. Do a final seasoning with dried mango powder, Sugar, black pepper.

Serve hot and store it in an airtight container. The cornflakes chivda can be stored for a few weeks too.
