Chicken popcorn is an easy to cook, delicious, crispy and flavorful snack, which one can enjoy at any time of the day. They make superb tea time as well as midnight snacks. And they taste even better with a dip.

The best thing about homemade chicken popcorn is that it can be flavorful; you may make it cheesy or spicy, whichever way you prefer. You may add your favourite spices and herbs, whatever way suits you.

For Marination 

  • 3 Chicken breast, cut into small cubes
  • Salt to taste
  • 1 ½ tsp red chilli powder
  • ¼ tsp Turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp Coriander powder
  • A pinch of asafoetida
  • Vinegar – 1 tsp
  • 1 tbsp Coriander leaves, chopped
  • Ginger Garlic paste – 1 heaped tsp
  • 1 Egg white
  • Cornstarch – 1 tbsp

For Coating 

  • 1 cup Cornflakes, crumble
  • ⅓ cup Bread crumb
  • Oil for frying

For Dip 

  • 4-5 Garlic cloves
  • 1 Green chilli, broken
  • 1 tbsp Coriander leaves
  • 2-3 tbsp Olive oil
  •  ½ Cheese block, grated
  • 2 tbsp Mayonnaise
  • 1 tsp Black pepper powder

For Garnish 

  • Coriander sprig
  • Lemon wedge

For Marination

  1. Take a large bowl, add chicken cubes, salt according to taste, red chilli powder, turmeric powder, coriander powder, asafoetida, vinegar, coriander leaves, and ginger garlic paste; mix them all properly.
  2. Now, add egg white, cornstarch and mix everything well.

For Coating 

  1. In another bowl, add cornflakes and crumb it well.
  2. Add bread crumbs to it and mix everything really well.
  3. One by one, coat the chicken cubes into the corn flakes crumb properly.

For Frying 

  1. Take a kadhai, and on a medium flame, heat oil in it.
  2. Slightly, slide the pieces one at a time to the oil.
  3. Fry chicken popcorn in small batches.
  4. On medium flame, deep fry them properly till they turn golden in colour.
  5. Garnish it with a coriander sprig and a lemon wedge.

For Dip 

  1. In a bowl, add garlic, green chilli, coriander leaves, olive oil and with the help of a blender, blend it properly.
  2. Transfer the mixture into another bowl, add mayonnaise, black pepper and mix it evenly.

Serve hot, with dip. If you are not into making a dip yourself, you may just pair it with mayonnaise or cheesy dip or jalapeno dip.
