Ingredients

For Dal

  • 200 gms soaked black lentil
  • 3 tbsp Garlic water
  • ¼ cup of butter
  • water as required

For tempering 

  • ½ ghee
  • 1 tbsp ginger garlic paste
  • Red chilli powder- 1 tsp
  • 1 ½ cup tomato puree
  • ¼ cup butter
  • Salt to taste

For second tempering 

  • 2 tbsp ghee
  • 1 tsp Kasuri methi
  • ½ tsp red chilli powder
  • 2 tbsp water
  • ¼ cup butter

For garnish

  • 2-3 butter cubes
  • ½ tbsp fresh cream

Preparation For Dal Makhani

  1. Wash the urad dal and soak it overnight.
  2. Take a heavy bottom pot, and add dal, garlic, water and let it cook for at least 1.5 hours on a medium-low flame.
  3. Once dal is properly cooked and ready, add butter into it.

Serve hot, garnished with cream and butter cubes, coriander, and serve hot roti or jeera rice. You might as well add lemon to it.
