Ingredients For Making Gujarati Fafda Recipe

  • 2 cups besan 
  • ¼ tsp turmeric
  • ½ tsp Kashmiri red chilli powder 
  • salt to taste
  • ¼ tsp ajwain 
  • ¼ tsp baking soda
  • 2 tbsp oil
  • water to knead the dough
  • oil for deep frying

  1. Take a large mixing bowl and add turmeric, besan, chilli powder, ajwain, baking soda, and salt to taste.
  2. Now, add 2 tbsp oil and mix really well.
  3. Next, add warm water as required and knead it properly for about 5 minutes.
  4. Make sure the dough turns soft and smooth.
  5. Then, add a tsp of oil and coat the dough well.
  6. Now, cover it with a moist cloth and let it rest for 30 minutes.
  7. Knead it again for a minute.
  8. Next, take a ball sized dough and make a cylindrical shape.
  9. Then on a wooden board place the dough and stick one side.
  10. Press with the help of palms and stretch it thin in a forwarding direction.
  11. Now deep fry in a kadai with hot oil. 
  12. Stir them occasionally and keep the flame on medium.
  13. Fry all fafda for a minute or two.
  14. They will turn golden in colour and crispy in texture.

Finally, serve the fafda with green chutney or kadi.
