Easy Jalebi Recipe

A sweet which is available in every sweet shop of India and on the streets is Jalebi. It is yeast batter fried in circular shapes and dipped in syrup. Jalebi is easy to make and can even be made at home. So, here is the easy jalebi recipe.

People eat jalebi with poha or rabri. The combination of jalebi with any other delectable dish is just mouthwatering. If you are also tempted to eat jalebi, then here is a quick and simple recipe for you.

Ingredients

 Jalebi

For Syrup

  • 1 cup sugar
  • ¾ cup of water
  • ½ tsp saffron strands
  • ½ tsp lemon juice

For Khameer Jalebi

  • 1 cup refined flour
  • ½ tsp yeast
  • 2 tsp gram flour
  • ¾ cup of water

For Instant Jalebi

  • 1 cup refined flour
  • ¼ cup yoghurt
  • 1 tsp vinegar
  • ½ tsp baking powder
  • Water (if needed)
  • Oil for deep frying

Process

For Sugar Syrup

  1. Firstly, in a saucepan, add sugar, water and turn the flame medium and heat.
  2. Secondly, when the sugar starts melting, add lemon juice and stir continuously till one string consistency is achieved.

For Khameer Jalebi

  1. In a mixing bowl, add refined flour, yeast, gram flour and little water, mix it well. Keep it aside for 7 hours for fermentation.
  2. After fermentation, beat the mixture once again and mix.
  3. While mixing the ingredients, the batter will be slightly thicker but after fermenting the batter will get thin.

For Instant Jalebi

  1. In a bowl, add curd, refined flour, vinegar, baking powder and mix well. Keep aside for 5-7 minutes to set.
  2. Then add ½ cup water and whisk until there are no lumps.
  3. Whisk again for 2 mins.

For Making Jalebi

  1. Fill both the different batter in two different piping bag or ketchup bottle.
  2. In a wide mouth pan, heat oil for deep frying.
  3. Take a piping bag and form round whirls closely from outside to the centre.
  4. Fry jalebi till golden in colour.
  5. Remove jalebi instantly from the pan and steep into the sugar syrup.
  6. Let the jalebi soak for 2-3 minutes.
  7. Remove and transfer it to a serving plate.

The homemade jalebi is ready to serve. Garnish the jalebi with some rose petals, saffron strands and pistachios. Relish these jalebis with rabdi and you can also serve it with kachori. In Madhya Pradesh is served with poha, yes it’s a different combination. So, you can try this also.
