You must be lying if you tell that you are not a fan of the famous Indian sweet Gulab Jamoon. The sweet famous on all occasions, be it birthday parties, weddings, baby showers, Diwali, or any other festivals.

Sometimes we don’t even need a reason to have gulab jamoon, it is the all-time favorite sweet. However, we always do not have the ingredients like mawa available all the time at our homes, but we cannot curb the craving, can we? Well, e have the solution to that, the recipe for suji gulab jamoon.

Gulab jamoon can be paired up with vanilla ice-cream too. You can garnish it with dry fruits and rose petals.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups Milk 
  • 1 cup Semolina
  • Few strands Saffron 
  • ½ tsp Cardamom Powder 
  • 1 tsp Ghee
  • ¼ tsp Baking Soda (optional) 
  •  Oil/Ghee for frying

For Sugar Syrup

  • 1½ cups Sugar
  • 1 ½ cups Water 
  • 1 tbsp Rose Water

For Garnish 

  • Pista,  sliced 
  • Fresh Rose Petals (optional) 

Preparation

For Sugar Syrup 

  1. Take a pan and add sugar, water and boil it until one string consistency. 
  2. Pour it into a bowl and let it cool down a little.
  3. Later add rose water and mix everything properly. 
  4. Keep aside for further use.
  5. Take a kadhai and add milk to it.

For Gulab Jamoon

  1. Let it boil for a little while and then slowly add semolina/suji to it.
  2. Stir it continuously.
  3. Now, add saffron, cardamom powder and mix it properly.
  4. Cook it on medium heat until it becomes doughy. 
  5. Next, take it off in a bowl and keep it aside to cool down. 
  6. Once it has been cooled take it on a flat surface and knead it really well until smooth.
  7. Then apply some ghee, add baking soda and mix all together to form a soft smooth dough. Take a small lemon sized portion and give it a cylindrical shape. 
  8. Now deep fry them in medium hot oil until golden brown in color and crispy in texture on the outside. 
  9. Remove and add it to the sugar syrup.
  10. Let them soak for at least 2 hours or overnight. 

Serve chilled and garnish with sliced pasta and fresh rose petals. You can also serve Vanilla ice cream with it.
